NEXT MEETING

Where:  Covenant Presbyterian

When:  Thursday July 12  7pm

What:  CHRISTMAS IN JULY

FROM THE PRESIDENT

Remember when we grumbled about twenty below and the snow?  This too shall pass!

We have some nice surprises from the Houseparty for our CHRISTMAS IN JULY meeting.  If you have any Christmas Show N Tell or special Christmas thngs you would like to share, bring them.

We had fun learning all about the “marbles?”  Sue did a great job and we thank her for her time and patience.  She had to keep reinforcing that there is no wrong way to do it!  After looking at mine … she should rethink that statement!  I want to see Joan’s completed fireplace at the next meeting, and Georgia did a beautiful job on her table.  Thanks again Sue for helping so many do a marvelous job.

Mini Money and the rules were passed out (see pages 3-4)  Just ask any questions you have.  Sue Veeder provided a band aid for Linda Kasper’s boo-boo.  Do you think they are entitled to a dollar?

There was a discussion on whether to have a regular Thursday meeting  when we have a Saturday workshop.  Our group voted for a regular Thursday meeting and consider the Saturday workshop an “added” benefit.  So, Linda has reserved the Green Lantern for her class on August 18.  We will have our regular meeting August 9.

Free Box

Do you remember the “free” box everyone got at the Houseparty if they placed an order?  They were supposed to be finished for the July meeting – but I forgot to remind everyone AND I haven’t started mine.  So we will have everyone bring a finished box to the August meeting.  Remember – anything goes!  Any scale.  Anything your little heart desires!

Trip Prices

Here are prices for going to NAME Headquarters, Museum, and Indianapolis Miniature Show Friday Sept 14 and Saturday Sept 15.  Van rental, hotel room (two per room) – about $225 per person.  THIS IS AN ESTIMATE.  It does not include food or entry fees to anything.  We need a firm commitment of eight people and a deposit of $50 at the July meeting before I can firm up reservations.  If you want to go and can’t attend the July meeting, please let me know now about making deposit arrangements.

We will plan one trip at a time so will look into the Pabst Mansion for a later time.  Also, possibly a retreat.

Community Project

I would like to see a Community Project to promote our hobby.  Anyone have any ideas?

Greendale Exhibit

Barb Hefti will give us an update on final plans for the July 28 exhibit in Greendale.  This should be a lot of fun, so be sure to attend and also help out.  Barb and I plan to go Friday and stay overnight so we can get a good start before Saturday.

Thanks to Joan Emden for updating our MAME brochure and to Donna Balsley for printing copies.

See you all Thursday.  Remember to wear your holiday finery and bring holiday show n tell.

NEWS FLASH

Jodi Eklund and Georgia Wagner have the MAME website up and running and you can find it at http://www.miniaturesofmadison.org/.  At the moment it is a copy of our brochure but can be easily changed or augmented.  Address any questions (and congratulations and thanks) to Jodi and Georgia.

JUNE MEETING

(Big thank you to Linda Kasper for note taking)

The meeting was called to order with 16 members present.  The donation to NAME in memory of Gordon Burgess, Birgit Rennenkampff, and Robert Zimmerman was approved and will be sent soon.

President Nancy discussed restarting MAME money.  She had some of the leftover money and we started on Saturday.  A sheet was passed out with guidelines for the money.  We are on the honor system, and the money will be available at each meeting.  We will have a silent auction in May with the money.  If you have donations for the auction, you can give them to Nancy at anytime and she will store them until the auction.

Barb Hefti reported on the Greendale event.  She has quite a few people signed up to bring displays, but we cold use more.  If you can’t make it to Greendale but want to display, bring it to the July meeting and it will get taken there for you.  The display will be July 28 from 10 am till 4 pm.  Barb passed out cards for people to fill out for their displays with your name and any special technique you used on your project.

Sue Veeder, Linda Kasper, and Diane Barden will have things to sell.  Linda Kasper will demonstrate making flowers.  If you are interested in staying overnight on Friday, Barb is staying at the Hospitality Inn, phone number 1-414-2828-8800.

Barb Hefti also reported that Debbie Baker will be the new state representative for NAME.  She has talked to her and we hope to have the Greendale event advertised in an A-1 newsletter and the Gazette.

Show And Tell

Nancy Flanagan brought her ¼” scale tree house, a Bespaq baby cabinet, wooden puzzles, bird house, cannisters and boxes from paper minis, and Halloween decorations.
